Japanese Plain Form verb group one

Plain form in Japanese language is consisted of four forms. They are dictionary form, ta form, nai form and nakatta form. It is commonly used in Japanese society in less formal situation in daily life. On this article we will know about plain form for group one verb.

Here, some group one verbs are converted into plain form:

会いますto meet
あいます – aimasu

Dictionary form: あう – au
Ta form: あった – atta
Nai form: あわない – awanai
Nakatta form: あわなかった – awanakatta

遊びますto play
あそびます – asobimasu

Dictionary form: あそぶ – asobu
Ta form: あそんだ – asonda
Nai form: あそばない – asobanai
Nakatta form: あそばなかった – asobanakatta

洗いますto wash
あらいます – araimasu

Dictionary form: あらう – arau
Ta form: あらった – aratta
Nai form: あらわない – arawanai
Nakatta form: あらわなかった – arawanakatta

在りますto exist (object cannot move)
あります – arimasu

Dictionary form: ある – aru
Ta form: あった – atta
Nai form: ない – nai
Nakatta form: なかった – nakatta

歩きますto walk
あるきます – arukimasu

Dictionary form: あるく – aruku
Ta form: あるいた – aruita
Nai form: あるかない – arukanai
Nakatta form: あるかなかった – arukanakatta

As you can see each group one verb can be converted into four forms/plain form.

Here, dictionary form represents the root form of the verb, ta form represents past form of the verb, nai form represents negative form of the verb and nakatta form represents past negative form of the verb.

Together, it is the plain form for each particular verb word mentioned above.
